Evidently our Freedom, Science and general progress is not valued if we don't use a corrupted copy of a western classic. Oh, and there is something wrong with being a traditional catholic according to the above reviewer. The fact is that higher criticism and politically driven textual degradation are not acts of either "science" or "freedom" but contrary to both. You can spot them all the time - they don't address the topic, just attack the person (ad hominem fallacy) and spout buzz words ("science," "freedom" etc.) A true child of chairman Mao is among us. This is hardly Butler's work at all - this text has been raped clean of all the author's intent, and is filled with sophistries and outright lies.

Beware...this classic has been doctored by the modernist editors. Find an old copy elsewhere if you can!

Some people want us to remain in the Dark Ages, under a repressive Catholic regime. I'm going to assume the previous reviewer is some sort of Traditional Catholic.
For those who value freedom and science as well as their Christian faith, this edition is a valuable contribution.
Enjoy

The two editors used the historical/critical method of reviewing/editting the writing. This is not faithful to the original book.
